World Nature Conservation Day

Writer's picture: Rae Sabine Rae Sabine

The inception of World Nature Conservation Day in 1998 aimed to raise awareness of the environmental impact of human activities and motivate people to make a difference. Since then, this annual observance promotes increased awareness and responsibility towards the earth’s wellbeing. It offers diverse avenues for learning and participation in safeguarding natural resources, including advocating for sustainable practices, minimising pollution, and supporting reforestation efforts. It is crucial for all to actively contribute towards a sustainable future and partake in actions that safeguard the planet’s magnificence for future generations.

I acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land where I live and work, the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nations. I acknowledge that this land was never ceded and always was, always will be Aboriginal land. I pay my respects to Elders past, present and emerging.

I celebrate, value and include people of all backgrounds, genders, sexualities, cultures, age groups, spiritual beliefs, physical abilities and disabilities.
