Trans Day of Remembrance

Writer's picture: Rae Sabine Rae Sabine

“Today is a milestone for me. Not just because today we honour your life and your lost struggle, but for me personally as your bereaved mother, it is the first time outside of your memorial that I am speaking publically about you. I wish you were here, but because you are not, I have a purpose and a mission Rue. I am hurting so much, all I really want to do is disappear into the pain of this loss, the loss of you. However, I have found that I actually feel better when I find something I can do to help others. Yes, I know, it’s counter intuitive isn’t it?”

Consent to share Carla’s Continuing Bonds Box for Trans Day of Remembrance was given.

I acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land where I live and work, the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nations. I acknowledge that this land was never ceded and always was, always will be Aboriginal land. I pay my respects to Elders past, present and emerging.

I celebrate, value and include people of all backgrounds, genders, sexualities, cultures, age groups, spiritual beliefs, physical abilities and disabilities.
