The Stuck Frog

Writer's picture: Rae Sabine Rae Sabine

“The stuck frog 🐸 (who didn’t know she could leap.)

The frog felt her feet stuck to the lily pad.

No matter how hard she tried to jump, her feet wouldn’t go with her body.

She blamed her feet because they were not like other frogs feet.

They could leap from lily pad to lily pad with such force and little effort.

The frog could feel she had the same force but still her feet would not move.

The force felt like it was holding her down, rather than pushing her forward.

Then she realised that the force could flow back up through her and out.

Then she made a leap and realised there was never anything wrong with her.

She just had her own way of leaping.”

I acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land where I live and work, the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nations. I acknowledge that this land was never ceded and always was, always will be Aboriginal land. I pay my respects to Elders past, present and emerging.

I celebrate, value and include people of all backgrounds, genders, sexualities, cultures, age groups, spiritual beliefs, physical abilities and disabilities.
