The “ADDRESSING” model, created by Pamela Hays, speaks to the socially constructed social identities that form the basis of our realities. It serves as a means of comprehending privilege and marginalisation, helping us understand our own lived experiences and ways we can be more intersectional in our work. Hays posits that factors such as age and generation, developmental disabilities, acquired disabilities, religion and spirituality, ethnicity and race, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, indigenous heritage, national origin, and gender identity are essential for a thorough understanding of cultural identity. In what areas do you hold power and privilege? Which areas are of minority status?

I acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land where I live and work, the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nations. I acknowledge that this land was never ceded and always was, always will be Aboriginal land. I pay my respects to Elders past, present and emerging.

I celebrate, value and include people of all backgrounds, genders, sexualities, cultures, age groups, spiritual beliefs, physical abilities and disabilities.
