Pronouns Matter

Writer's picture: Rae Sabine Rae Sabine

Our pronouns are not ‘preferred pronouns’ they are our pronouns. Please don’t use the term ‘preferred pronouns’. It implies that a person’s pronouns are simply a preference and not a core part of someone’s identity. It would be better to ask people ‘what are your pronouns?’ Someone might tell you that they use multiple sets of pronouns for themselves, in this case you may ask them ‘how would like me to use your pronouns?’

I acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land where I live and work, the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nations. I acknowledge that this land was never ceded and always was, always will be Aboriginal land. I pay my respects to Elders past, present and emerging.

I celebrate, value and include people of all backgrounds, genders, sexualities, cultures, age groups, spiritual beliefs, physical abilities and disabilities.
