Polyennic Pride Month

Writer's picture: Rae Sabine Rae Sabine

October is Polyennic Pride Month, also known as ADHD Awareness Month, is an opportunity to celebrate our ways of engaging with attention and our high octane energy.

The term “polyennic,” coined by Raven Cochrane, is a depathologised and neuro-affirming term instead of “ADHD,” that means “Many Thoughts”.

This month emphasises not only our strengths but also acknowledges the unique challenges many we face while navigating a world designed for monoennic people.

I acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land where I live and work, the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nations. I acknowledge that this land was never ceded and always was, always will be Aboriginal land. I pay my respects to Elders past, present and emerging.

I celebrate, value and include people of all backgrounds, genders, sexualities, cultures, age groups, spiritual beliefs, physical abilities and disabilities.
