Polyennic Pride

Writer's picture: Rae Sabine Rae Sabine

The label ADHD is widely criticised for being inaccurate, pathologising, and harmful. So, why do we continue to put up with it? Fortunately, there is a growing movement of using the term “polyennic” coined by Raven Cochrane, as a better alternative, which conveys the idea of having “many thoughts.” Although it may take some time for this new term to become widely accepted, there is hope for change in the future.

I acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land where I live and work, the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nations. I acknowledge that this land was never ceded and always was, always will be Aboriginal land. I pay my respects to Elders past, present and emerging.

I celebrate, value and include people of all backgrounds, genders, sexualities, cultures, age groups, spiritual beliefs, physical abilities and disabilities.
