Non-Binary Umbrella

Writer's picture: Rae Sabine Rae Sabine

Non-binary can be used as an umbrella term used to describe people’s genders that cannot be defined within the gender binary. They may understand their gender in a way that goes beyond simply identifying as either a man or woman. They may experience no gender at all. Some non-binary people may change their name, pronouns, take hormones and/or have surgeries while others may do none of these things and are still valid in their identity.

I acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land where I live and work, the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nations. I acknowledge that this land was never ceded and always was, always will be Aboriginal land. I pay my respects to Elders past, present and emerging.

I celebrate, value and include people of all backgrounds, genders, sexualities, cultures, age groups, spiritual beliefs, physical abilities and disabilities.
