The Native Leek, or Woiwurrung, beautifully known as Bulbine bulbosa, is a remarkable perennial that gifts us not only with its stunning presence but also with edible seeds, roots, and hidden corms beneath the earth—all of which are cherished as delicious bushfood in Wurundjeri culture. Over the past few weeks, I’ve been utterly captivated by the way this little wonder unfurls its vibrant flowers, a joyous testament to nature’s bounty that fills my heart with warmth and gratitude.

I acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land where I live and work, the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nations. I acknowledge that this land was never ceded and always was, always will be Aboriginal land. I pay my respects to Elders past, present and emerging.

I celebrate, value and include people of all backgrounds, genders, sexualities, cultures, age groups, spiritual beliefs, physical abilities and disabilities.
