Inviting in

Writer's picture: Rae Sabine Rae Sabine

“Coming out” refers to LGBTQIA+ individuals letting their identity be known both privately and publicly. While “coming out” can be empowering for some, it can be overwhelming for others. “Inviting in'' challenges the concept of “coming out.” “Inviting in” gives individuals the power to choose who they want to share their identity with. This supports the idea that your identity is yours to share if and when you’d like to.

I acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land where I live and work, the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nations. I acknowledge that this land was never ceded and always was, always will be Aboriginal land. I pay my respects to Elders past, present and emerging.

I celebrate, value and include people of all backgrounds, genders, sexualities, cultures, age groups, spiritual beliefs, physical abilities and disabilities.
