I choose to…

Writer's picture: Rae Sabine Rae Sabine

“Thanks for today. Talking with you and creating this artwork helped me to process the effects of being unwell, difficulties in my relationships with my parents and the changes to providing Art Therapy services to NDIS participants.

It all feels connected to social conditioning and adds to the feeling of being misunderstood by the world. At the same time I get to choose how this all effects me as a person and what I choose to do going forward in my life.

*I choose to rest to recover from illness

*I choose to continue speaking up for myself and setting/maintaining boundaries with people who won’t do their own emotional work

*I choose to find ways to offer art therapy services to people in ways that feel authentic and ethical.

This feels so empowering to know that I am in control of how I move forward (or stay still) in honouring my emotional and physical needs.”

I acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land where I live and work, the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nations. I acknowledge that this land was never ceded and always was, always will be Aboriginal land. I pay my respects to Elders past, present and emerging.

I celebrate, value and include people of all backgrounds, genders, sexualities, cultures, age groups, spiritual beliefs, physical abilities and disabilities.
