Gender Neutral Language or Gender Inclusive Language is language that avoids reference towards a particular gender or sex. Using Gender Neutral Language is an important habit to get into because it demonstrates respect for people of all backgrounds, genders and beliefs. Gender Neutral Language also includes everyone in the conversation. While many English words are naturally gender neutral, some still carry gendered connotations. So it’s especially important to pay attention to the language you use.

I acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land where I live and work, the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nations. I acknowledge that this land was never ceded and always was, always will be Aboriginal land. I pay my respects to Elders past, present and emerging.

I celebrate, value and include people of all backgrounds, genders, sexualities, cultures, age groups, spiritual beliefs, physical abilities and disabilities.
