Fijian Print

Writer's picture: Rae Sabine Rae Sabine

“Fijian artwork is often based on nature. In this lino print, I drew pandanas leaves, a line of a print called "kaso," a line of banana leaves, and a line of flowers.

Art is for everyone, if you want to make Fijian art or use our cultural symbols, kindly research what significance they hold before doing so. Making money off of Fijian art work if you're not Fijian is cultural appropriation.”

I acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land where I live and work, the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nations. I acknowledge that this land was never ceded and always was, always will be Aboriginal land. I pay my respects to Elders past, present and emerging.

I celebrate, value and include people of all backgrounds, genders, sexualities, cultures, age groups, spiritual beliefs, physical abilities and disabilities.
