Dopamine Nation is a compelling and accessible read that presents narratives from people experiencing addiction while offering insightful commentary on the issue of compulsive overconsumption in today’s fast-paced, pleasure-seeking environment.

The book explores our attraction to pleasure—such as social media, food, and shopping—that can negatively impact our wellbeing. It is worth noting that the title may be somewhat misleading, as dopamine is not the solely involved in these impacts.

By integrating advanced neuroscience with real lived experiences, this book highlights the significance of contentment and connection in regulating pleasure to addresses our relentless pursuit of pleasure, which can paradoxically lead to pain.

I acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land where I live and work, the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nations. I acknowledge that this land was never ceded and always was, always will be Aboriginal land. I pay my respects to Elders past, present and emerging.

I celebrate, value and include people of all backgrounds, genders, sexualities, cultures, age groups, spiritual beliefs, physical abilities and disabilities.
