Asexual Awareness Week

Writer's picture: Rae Sabine Rae Sabine

Happy Asexual Awareness Week!

Asexuality can be used as an umbrella term to refer to a broad diversity in people’s experience of sexual attraction.

An asexual person may experience little or no sexual attraction to anyone, and/or does not experience desire for sexual contact.

The word ace is a shorthand for the identities that fit within the asexual umbrella, and it can also be used to refer to a person who identifies with the asexual umbrella.

I acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land where I live and work, the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nations. I acknowledge that this land was never ceded and always was, always will be Aboriginal land. I pay my respects to Elders past, present and emerging.

I celebrate, value and include people of all backgrounds, genders, sexualities, cultures, age groups, spiritual beliefs, physical abilities and disabilities.
