Art Therapy with Transgender and Gender-Expansive Children and Teenagers

***Disappointed***

I was greatly let down by the usage of “s/he” in a book centered around working with transgender and gender expansive children and teenagers. It made me question whether the authors sought input from individuals within the transgender community to review this book.

The book has good intentions and an overall affirming message. However, some of the terminology has been completely misused. There are even elements of this book that would be viewed as harmful by a significant amount of the community. This could have been very easily avoided.

I did find the limited art processes in the book to be interesting. However, I would strongly advise seeking guidance from voices within the community if you are seeking to ensure the best possible support for transgender and gender expansive children and teenagers.
